Panthers Prospects Rocco Grimaldi (Two Goals) & Vincent Trocheck (Two Points) Lead Team USA To Gold at 2013 World Junior Championship

Duo combine for all three goals as United States defeats Sweden 3-1 for third ever World Junior Championship title

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers prospects F Rocco Grimaldi (USA) and F Vincent Trocheck (USA) earned Gold medals at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship after defeating Team Sweden 3-1 on Saturday. Grimaldi, who was named the Player of the Game, scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner for Team USA, while Trocheck added an empty net tally and assisted on Grimaldi’s first goal of the game.

Florida Panthers assistant coach Gord Murphy’s son, Connor and former JR Panther D Shayne Gostisbehere also earned Gold. Grimaldi finished the tournament with four points (2-2-4) in seven games played, while Trocheck collected five points (3-2-5) in seven games.

Cats prospects D Rasmus Bengtsson (Sweden) took home Silver, while F Yaroslav Kosov (Russia) earned Bronze. Bengtsson completed the tournament with one point (0-1-1) in four games played, while Kosov recorded four points (3-1-4) in seven games played.

Cats prospects F Jonathan Huberdeau (Canada), who finished in the Top 10 among the tournament scoring leaders, completed the tournament with nine points (3-6-9) in six games played as Canada fell to Russia 6-5 in overtime in the bronze medal game.
