Cats can't keep up with Tampa's high-powered offense in 5-2 loss.

TAMPA, Fla (NHL.com) — Steven Stamkos extended his points streak to six games and Tom Pyatt and Dana Tyrell each had a goal and an assist as the Tampa Bay Lightning extended their winning streak to four games by beating the Florida Panthers 5-2 on Tuesday night.

Tampa Bay improved to 5-1-0 overall and 4-0-0 at home. The struggling Panthers lost their fifth in a row after beating Carolina in their opener..

1. Quick Strike First: Both teams had a couple of chances early in the game. Scottie Upshall might have had the best but was denied by the glove of Anders Lindback on a breakaway chance. An unfortunate extra penalty to the Panthers gave the Lightning their first power play of the game. Ed Jovanovski was checked by the knee of BJ Crombeen and instead of a Panthers power play, it was the Bolts up a man as Keaton Ellerby came to the defense of Jovanovski. Ellerby and Crombeen dropped the gloves with the Florida defenseman getting 19 minutes of penalties. Bolts superstar Steven Stamkos made the Cats pay as he followed up on his own rebound to go top shelf on Jose Theodore. That would start a scoring frenzy as Peter Mueller answered 15 seconds later, jamming the puck past Lindback. Tampa would ultimately take the lead after Corey Conacher fought off Mike Weaver to score on a rush 1:25 later.

2. Scoring The Dirty Goals: Tampa is just oozing offensive confidence and with that they are able to score the dirty goals with their hard work. That happened just 3:18 into the second period. Rushing up the ice, Dana Tyrell threw the puck towards the center and the puck hit Tom Pyatt's glove, hit the ice and bounced in past Theodore. Later in the period the duo combined for the Lightning's fourth goal. Battling behind and in front of the net, Pyatt got the puck behind the goal line and set up Tyrell who was stationed outside the crease. With a Florida defender draped on him, he beat Theodore with a high shot. Two of those greasy goals that if you're on, are going in. For Florida, that's not happen

3. Frustrations Boiling Over: Tampa would up their lead to 5-1 with a power play goal off a nice tic-tac-toe feed to Vincent Lecavalier with 5:47 left to play. With the goal, Florida's goal allowed total ran to 19 goals over the five game losing streak. Tomas Kopecky took exception to the goal and was given a misconduct and unsportsmanlike conduct, ending his night early. The Panthers would get a shorthanded goal from Tomas Fleischmann on the ensuing power play as he scored on a breakaway but with the way things have gone over the last eight days, the frustration has mounted even more. The Panthers played a much better game but it didn't show against the Lightning in the end game. Florida needs to channel that frustration and put into focus in their next game against Winnipeg.

1. Florida got their first shorthanded goal of the season and it came off the stick of forward Tomas Fleischmann. The winger raced in on a breakaway, deked and just got enough of a shot to get past Anders Lindback late in the third. It was the forward's first shorthanded goal of his NHL career (393 games).

5. Tampa boosted their league leading scoring average higher with another five goal effort Tuesday night. The production was spread around as they had five different goal scorers. Five players also had multiple point nights.

26. Panthers defenseman Keaton Ellerby and Lightning forward BJ Crombeen combined for 26 penalty minutes in one exchange. The duo were whistled for fighting with Ellerby picking up a 10-minute miscounduct, instigator and unsportsmanlike penalties and Crombeen was also called for a trip 9:40 into the game after Crombeen tripped Ed Jovanovski.

71. Rookie Drew Shore continued his success in the face-off circle. A game after winning 83.3% of his face-offs (10-of-12), the center won 71% of his draws, going 12-of-17 in the dot. Florida as a team won 56% of their draws.

100. There was a lot of scoring in a short period of time as the Lightning and Panthers combined for three goals in just 100 seconds (1:40) of play. Two of the goals came 15 seconds apart.

Was a thorn in the Panthers side all night, giving the Lightning a 2-1 advantage and helping set up the last goal.

The Panthers are still searching for their first win since Opening Night. Their next opportunity will be Thursday as they are home to host Southeast Division rival Winnipeg Jets. Winnipeg currently sits second in the Division with a 3-2-1 but lost Tuesday night in Montreal by a 4-3 final, snapping a three-game losing streak. Evander Kane (3-4-7), Dustin Byfuglien (3-4-7) and Tobias Enstrom (0-7-7) lead the way with seven points.
