WINNIPEG — When the Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets met last week in South Florida, the Panthers overtook the Jets in the third period to snap a losing streak. In the return engagement, Winnipeg overcame two deficits and before scoring a power-play with 15.2 seconds left in overtime to beat the Panthers 3-2 Tuesday night at MTS Centre, snapping a three-game losing streak. Winnipeg's Evander Kane forced Panthers defenseman Filip Kuba to take him down during a rush with 2:10 left in OT. After a slow start on the man-advantage, Winnipeg's Bryan Little took a feed from Zach Redmond, moved into the high slot and ripped a glove-side shot high past Florida goaltender Scott Clemmensen.. 2. Punch, Counter-Punch: The two offenses got going in the second and it started early. Winnipeg's first would come off an unfortunate deflection to knot the game at one. With the Panthers changing, Blake Wheeler streaked up the left side of the ice and fired a shot just inside the Panthers blueline. Attempting to get back on defense, Keaton Ellerby got his blade on the puck right at the beginning of the shot and it changed enough to fool Scott Clemmensen 2:28 in. Tomas Fleischmann would quickly give the Panthers the lead again 1:24 later as he scored from just inside the blueline that beat traffic. The hosts scored on a similar play as Mark Stuart's shot from inside the blueline found it's way past Clemmensen with 7:39 to play in the period. 3. A Tough Ending: With nothing happening in the third period despite a power play for each side and just a combined eight shots, the teams each earned a point. For Florida, it was their first extra session game of the season and they were looking for a third straight game. It wasn't meant to be as the Panthers gave the Jets a fourth power play of the game and they made them pay for the first time. Defenseman Filip Kuba was whistled for tripping with 2:10 left to play. With a lot of room playing four-on-three, the Jets tried to get set up but the Panthers killers made a valiant effort at killing it off. Forwards Stephen Weiss, Tomas Kopecky and Marcel Goc were extremely effective in killing off the majority of the penalty. Not all however as Bryan Little took the feed from Zach Redmond after entering the zone and fired a shot top shelf on Clemmensen with 15.2 seconds remaining, just six seconds left in the man advantage. It was definitely a tough ending to a game that looked so well as the Panthers limited the Jets chances all night. |

2. Florida did a masterful job limiting the Jets shots on net. In fact, they allowed just two shots in the third period. Looking at it, they fired two shots, including the winner, in less than five minutes of play in the third period. |
