SUNRISE, Fla. — Sunrise Sports & Entertainment today announced that the Florida Panthers Alumni Association will be hosting free “Learn to Play Hockey Florida Panther Alumni Clinics” throughout the hockey season.

The first of these free clinics will be held on Nov. 24 at Saveology.com Iceplex in Coral Springs, which will also coincide with the opening of the newly refurbished Stadium rink at the facility. Panthers Alumni Bill Lindsay, Bryan McCabe, Marco Sturm and Ray Sheppard will be attending this clinic, which begins at 10:30 a.m. for kids, and 11:30 a.m. for adults.

The Panthers Alumni Association will hold four to five clinics at the Panthers Rink Coalition partners throughout the season made up of three 45-minute groups of 30 people. Four alumni will attend each clinic, including Bill Lindsay leading on ice instruction. Participating kids will each receive a free jersey sponsored by the Alumni Association following the conclusion of their clinic. Rink Coalition sites include Glacier Ice & Snow Arena, Kendall Ice Arena, Palm Beach Skate Zone, Palm Beach Ice Works and the Saveology.com Iceplex.

“We are excited to create these free hockey clinics for both kids and adults,” said VP of Broadcasting and Panthers Alumni Randy Moller. “Hockey has been a big part of our lives growing up and as a profession and now being a part of the Florida Panthers Alumni Association, the alumni want to forward that knowledge gained on the great game of hockey to as many people possible.”

The Florida Panthers Alumni Association continues to impact the promotion of youth hockey in South Florida with their semi-annual Grant/Scholarship programs, offering scholarships as a means of promoting sportsmanship and academics as a part of the hockey experience to those players/families that do not have the financial means to otherwise participate in a travel hockey program. The Alumni Association recently awarded $3,000 in grants and scholarships for the fall youth hockey season to deserving youth recipients and have donated over $310,000 to youth hockey players and programs that otherwise could not afford to play since 1997. To be eligible for an award, you must currently be on (or eligible for) a South Florida travel hockey roster. Visit floridapanthers.com/AlumniScholarshipGrant for more information.
