D Erik Gudbranson & F Jonathan Huberdeau To Represent Team Canada At World Championship

Gudbranson & Huberdeau to compete at World Championship in Minsk, Belarus.

SUNRISE, Fla. – Team Canada announced that Florida Panthers D Erik Gudbranson and F Jonathan Huberdeau have been selected to play for the 2014 Canada Men’s National Team at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Men’s Championship, in Minsk, Belarus from May 9-25.

Gudbranson, 22, played in 65 games with Florida this season recording three goals with six assists and 114 penalty minutes. The Ottawa, Ontario native has played in 169 career National Hockey League games, all with Florida.

Gudbranson represented Team Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championship, where he won a Silver medal. He was drafted by Florida with the third overall choice in the 2010 NHL Draft.

Huberdeau, 20, played in 69 games with Florida this season recording 28 points (9-19-28). The Saint-Jerome, Quebec native was awarded the Calder Trophy after registering 31 points (14-17-31) during his rookie campaign last year.

Huberdeau represented Team Canada at both the 2012 and 2013 World Junior Championship, earning a Bronze medal in 2012. He was drafted by Florida with the third overall choice in the 2011 NHL Draft.
