With Sellout Crowd, Florida Hockey Fans Make Cats Opening Night Memorable

SUNRISE, FL – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, the BankAtlantic Center and the Florida Panthers would like to extend a very special thank you to the passionate South Florida hockey fans for their support. The Cats did their part, defeating division rival Atlanta 2-0. But the sell out crowd of 19,250 made the evening that much more memorable.

"On behalf of all my teammates I'd like to say 'welcome back,'" Panthers captain Olli Jokinen said. "Thank you for your wonderful support on Opening Night. We are all working hard to give you a team you can be proud of. You're the best. And we're looking forward to seeing everyone again on Friday against the Lightning."

Fans continue to show their support. The Cats face the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7:30. There are less than 1,500 tickets available for the game, including special $8 game-day-only tickets.

"Passionate fans make it tough for other teams to come into our building," Cats head coach Jacques Martin said. "We have some of the most passionate fans in the league and we're trying to reward them with an exciting, hard-working team. We appreciate all the support they give us."

Broadcast schedule: For fans looking to keep up with the Cats when they hit the road on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against the Lightning, the game will be broadcast live on 560 WQAM sports radio and 1360 WKAT. WKAT will carry the tame in its entirety; while WQAM will switch to the Panthers right after the Miami vs. Duke (3:30) college football game. Steve Goldstein will handle play-by-play while Randy Moller will provide color analysis.

On television, FSN Florida will also broadcast Florida's first road game live with Dave Strader (play-by-play) and Denis Potvin (color) in the booth, with Craig Minervini reporting from the sideline.
