Panthers Volunteer To Give Away Sticks To Fans
At Least One Player Will Give Away a Game Stick Following Every Cats Home Victory
SUNRISE, Fla. Every time the Florida Panthers win at home, at least one young fan will go home with a special souvenir.
To show their appreciation for the outstanding support the Cats have received at the BankAtlantic Center this season, the Panthers players have agreed to personally give away a signed souvenir stick if they are named one of the "Sziro Jewelers Three Stars of the Game" following a home win.
The tradition began following the Cats 3-1 win over St. Louis on Jan. 12 when Panthers Captain Olli Jokinen , upon being named first star of the game with a goal and an assist, skated across the ice and tossed his stick over the glass and into the waiting hands of a young fan.
Since then at least one Panther has given away a souvenir stick following each home victory, and the tradition will continue for the rest of the regular season.
"The young fans in South Florida have been great this season," Jokinen said. "They are always vocal and supportive and they are a big part of our success at home."
Florida is 14-6-4 at the BankAtlantic Center this season and 7-0-3 in its last ten.
