Penguins Defeat Cats 5-1
Despite a hard fought game, the Florida Panthers fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins, 5-1 at the BankAtlantic Center.
In the past four years the Panthers have gone unbeaten versus the Penguins with 13 consecutive victories and won the season series 3-1.
Jay Bouwmeester scored 13:51 into the third period as he hit the weakside of Sebastien Caron for his 4th of the season on a 4 on 4. Rostislav Olesz set up Bouwmeester on a dish as they dashed down the ice.
Joe Nieuwendyk entered the game third in the NHL on the face-off with a 59.2 percentage. Nieuwendyk continued his quick off the draw style compiling a face-off percentage of 84.
Olli Jokinen was also solid in the face-off circle as well winning eight face-offs.
The Panthers next take on defending Stanley Cup champion and intrastate rival the Tampa Bay Lightning this Sunday at 5pm at the BankAtlantic Center.
