Panthers Pick Up Medals at 2006 IIHF World Championship
Krajicek Garners Silver; Jokinen Earns Silver
SUNRISE, Fla. – Cats D Lukas Krajicek (silver medal) and C Olli Jokinen (bronze medal) each earned medals for their respective countries at the 2006 IIHF World Championship that concluded on Sunday in Latvia.
Krajicek took home the silver after his Czech Republic squad fell to tournament champions Sweden 4-0. Krajicek played in eight games recording no points and eight penalty minutes with 10 shots on goal.
Jokinen, playing in his ninth World Championship, garnered the bronze medal after Finland shutout Team Canada 5-0. Jokinen recorded a goal in the bronze medal and completed the tournament with three points (2-1-3) and 27 penalty minutes in five games played. He also earned a silver medal at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics.
Sweden became the first nation in history to capture Olympic and IIHF World Championship gold in the same year.
