Cats Trim Roster to 37 for Puerto Rico Trip
Florida assigns G David Shantz and D Franklin MacDonald to Rochester
SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers general manager and head coach Jacques Martin announced today that the club has made two more roster moves. The Cats have assigned G David Shantz and D Franklin MacDonald to the Rochester Americans (AHL).
The two roster moves cuts the Panthers training camp roster to 37 with four exhibition games remaining. The Cats will take on the New York Rangers in San Juan, Puerto Rico tomorrow night in the first ever NHL game played in the Caribbean. The game will be played at Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum at 7:30 p.m.
Shantz, 20, spent last season with Peterborough (OHL) going 31-14-3 with a GAA of 2.87 in 49 games played. Shantz was the Panthers second choice, 37th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
MacDonald, who signed a professional contract with the Cats last week, spent the past three seasons with Halifax (QMJHL). Last season, MacDonald went 12-33-45 with 129 PIM.
