Van Ryn and Allen Join SSE Staff in Distributing Thanksgiving Meals at Cooperative Feeding Program
The Florida Panthers set a new record at the Cooperative Feeding Program on Tuesday as they handed out meals to 450 families. The previous record was 350 meals distributed in one day, which was set by the Panthers during last year's holiday season.
Panthers staff members were joined by Panthers D Mike Van Ryn and his wife Amber, Bryan Allen and his wife Lexie and Wendy Kingston and Michele Charron in distributing Thanksgiving meals with all of the trimmings at the Cooperative Feeding Program. Panthers mascot Stanley C. Panther made a special appearance and helped distribute the 200 turkeys that were donated by the Florida Panthers Foundation and HoneyBaked Ham.
All Panthers employees were encouraged to volunteer for shifts at the Cooperative Feeding Program during the day. Employees helped pack boxes of Thanksgiving food, distribute those boxes and help recipients to their cars.
Food was collected for the Cooperative Feeding Center before Panthers home games in November. Panthers players wives/girlfriends took donations from fans on the Spirit Funway before home games and all collected food was then donated to the Cooperative Feeding Center on Tuesday.
"This was the most successful day that we've ever had at the Cooperative Feeding Program and it was gratifying to see that we had helped so many families this Thanksgiving," said Director of the Florida Panthers Foundation, Jean Marshall. "I would like to thank our partners, HoneyBaked Ham, Cheney Brothers and our fans for their generous donations."
