SUNRISE, Fla. – The National Hockey League announced today that Panthers D Jay Bouwmeester has been selected to the Eastern Conference roster for the 2007 COLD-fX / NHL All-Star Game to be played in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The game will be televised nationally on Versus.

Bouwmeester, 23, will be making his first All-Star Game appearance. In 2003, he participated in the Topps/NHL YoungStars Game which took place at the BankAtlantic Center. Bouwmeester recorded an assist in that game.

The Edmonton, Alberta native was drafted in the first round, third overall by the Panthers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He played three times for Team Canada in the World Junior Championships, winning the Silver Medal in 2002 and Bronze Medal in 2001. Last February, Bouwmeester had the honor of representing his country in the 2006 Torino Winter Olympic Games.

The 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration hosted at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas will feature live national broadcasts of the Dodge/NHL SuperSkills event on Tuesday, Jan. 23 and the NHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, Jan. 24 on VERSUS in the United States and CBC and RDS in Canada starting at 8 p.m., ET.
