Everblades Grab 2-0 Series Lead in Kelly Cup Playoffs
The Florida Panthers' ECHL minor league affiliate, Florida Everblades grabbed a 2-0 series lead in their best-of-five division semi-final series with the Charlotte Checkers after a convincing 7-2 victory on Saturday night at Germain Arena in front of a crowd of 5,361.

The Everblades picked up goals from seven different players, and saw 13 of their 16 skaters collect a point, while goaltender Craig Kowalski turned away 36 of 38 shots to pull within one victory of moving on to the South Division Finals.

Panthers prospects Dustin Johner and David Brine excelled Saturday night for the Everblades, each recording a goal and two assists, while being named the top two stars of the game. A third Panthers prospect, Adam Taylor assisted on the fifth Everblades goal.

The Everblades scored the first five goals of the game within the first 27 minutes and went 2-for-6 on the power play.

The same two teams will meet in Game Three of this series Tuesday night in Charlotte where the Blades will have a chance to close out the series and move one step closer to the Kelly Cup Finals.
