Kyle Turris Bio
Burnaby (BCJHL)
6-1, 170 pounds
Central Scouting Final Ranking: No. 1

Turris is the No. 1 ranked player by Central Scouting and the first Canadian Provincial Junior Hockey League player to ever earn the ranking.

A fluid skater with a quick shot and great playmaking abilities, Turris lit up the BCJHL in 2006-07 by scoring 66 goals in 53 games and ending the season with 121 points.

“There’s been a lot of comparisons to Joe Sakic,” said Panther director of scouting Scott Luce. “He’s a guy who can score at will. With more body weight, he’ll be hard to control down low.”

Turris, only 5-2 and 145-pounds at the age of 13, has always been involved in sports, playing lacrosse at four and taking up hockey at five. His father played in the Western Hockey League for several years and was captain of the Vancouver Burrards. He led his team to the Royal Bank Cup as a 16-year-old by scoring a hat trick in the championship game.

“Has a nose for the net and the ability to control the flow of the game,” said Central Scouting of Turris. “Not afraid of taking a hit and can perform under pressure. Has good on-ice awareness and a good work ethic.”

Turris, who has enrolled at Wisconsin, lists Steve Yzerman as his favorite player and Jack Johnson as his favorite musician.
