Steve Goldstein Named FSN Florida Play-by-Play Voice
SUNRISE, FLA – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and Florida Panthers chief operating officer Michael Yormark announced today that Panthers radio broadcaster Steve “Goldie” Goldstein has been named as the team’s new television play-by-play voice. He will team with four-time Stanley Cup Champion and Hall of Fame defenseman Denis Potvin on FSN Florida when the puck drops for the 2007-08 season on Oct. 4 at Madison Square Garden. The Panthers return to South Florida for their home opener at the BankAtlantic Center on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. against the New Jersey Devils.

“Goldie has been a trusted voice in South Florida hockey since the team’s inception and we feel that this is a natural progression for him,” said Yormark. “He has done a tremendous job on our radio broadcasts over the past two years, bringing to the airways a passion and dedication that resonates with our listeners. On top of that, Goldie’s commitment to the South Florida Community has been proven through years of volunteerism and fundraising, which is something that is imperative with our organization.”

"Steve is a terrific talent, and a South Florida personality who knows hockey, the NHL and most importantly the Florida Panthers very well," said Cathy Weeden, Sr. VP/GM of FSN Florida & Sun Sports.  "We are excited to have a person of Steve's abilities available and ready to take over the play by play mic on FSN Florida."

Goldstein, 37, spent the last two years as the radio play-by-play voice of the Florida Panthers.  Prior to being named the radio voice, he spent the previous nine seasons as the host of the Panthers’ pre- and post-game shows. In addition, he served as the in-arena studio host and provided the BankAtlantic Center crowd with intermission updates throughout the game. He currently also serves as a radio host on Sports Talk 790 The Ticket.

“The Florida Panthers organization has been wonderful to work for and I am very pleased to get this new opportunity,” said Goldstein. “I really enjoyed my last two seasons working on the radio broadcast team along with Randy Moller and Jesse Agler. Now, my focus turns to making our fans who are watching at home get a sense of the excitement that Panthers hockey has to offer.”

Goldstein has been a familiar voice on the South Florida radio airwaves since 1994. Some of his duties have included morning drive host on WQAM, as well as the Miami Dolphins and Hurricanes pre and post game show host. He also currently serves as a host of the Miccosukee Sports Rap, seen weekly on FSN Florida.

The Brooklyn, New York native worked at CBS Radio and Television Network from 1991-94. He also served as the hockey radio host at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan and producer at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games in Norway. Goldstein also served as a reporter for WFAN radio and ESPN radio in New York, as well as co-hosting the "Pete Rose Show" in 1995 and 1996.

A graduate of Syracuse University in 1991, Goldstein holds a degree in broadcast journalism. He and his wife, Dana, reside in Weston, FL, with their sons Jake and Kyle.
