5 THINGS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TONIGHT'S GAME:

5. The Florida Panthers play their second game of a three game home stand this afternoon when they host the Atlanta Thrashers. With their 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, Jan. 8, the Cats completed the first half of the season with a 19-16-6 mark, their best record since the 1999-00 campaign (24-11-3-3), which also marks the last time that Florida qualified for the post season.

4. D Jay Bouwmeester, who was named to the 2009 Eastern Conference All-Star team on Thursday, Jan. 8, ranks 2nd in the NHL averaging 27:34 of ice time per game and has 14 points (7-7-14) with a +6 rating in his last 21 games played.

3. C Michael Frolik, who was named to the 2009 Eastern Conference YoungStars on Friday, Jan. 9, ranks 11th among NHL rookie scoring leaders with 17 points (8-9-17). In addition, Frolik places third among rookie leaders in shots on goal (71), 10th in rookie goal scoring (8) and tied for 11th in power play points (5).

2. LW David Booth has recorded 12 points (5-7-12) in his last 10 games played and paces the Panthers with 17 goals. He also currently has a career high seven-game point (5-6-11) scoring streak in tact.

1. C Stephen Weiss has recorded 18 points (5-13-18) with a +9 rating in his last 21 games played and currently paces with the Panthers with 27 points (7-19-27). In addition, he has a five-game point (1-6-7) scoring streak in tact.
