5 THINGS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TONIGHT'S GAME:

5. The Florida Panthers have posted an 24-14-6 mark since Jan. 1, earning points in 30 of their last 44 games. After 81 games, Florida (40-30-11) owns their best record since 1999-2000 campaign (43-26-6-6), the last time that the Panthers qualified for the post season. The Panthers earned their 40th win of the season on Thursday, Apr. 9 with a 3-2 victory over Atlanta, marking the third time in their franchise history that the club has recorded at least 40 wins (1995-96 (41) & 1999-2000 (43). The Panthers complete the 2008-09 regular season with a contest against the Washington Capitals this evening.

4. D Jay Bouwmeester ranks first in the NHL averaging 27:02 of ice time per game and ranks 23rd among NHL league leaders with 42 points (15-27-42). He also holds the NHL’s active consecutive games played streak at 343 games played, dating back to the 2003-04 season. Bouwmeester tied his career high with his 15th goal of the season on Mar. 28 at Dallas, which also ties the franchise mark by goals scored by a defenseman in season. Additionally, with his 50th goal of his NHL career on Thursday, Feb. 5, Bouwmeester became just the second Panthers defenseman to record 50 tallies while playing for the Cats, joining Robert Svehla (61).

3. Seven of Florida’s top 11 leading point producers are 26 years-old or younger (Weiss-26 yrs old; Booth-24 yrs old; Horton-23 yrs old; Bouwmeester-25 yrs old; Frolik-20 yrs old; Campbell-25 yrs old, Ballard-26 yrs old).

2. C Michael Frolik ranks seventh among NHL rookie scoring leaders with 42 points (20-22-42). In addition, Frolik places seventh in rookie goal scoring (20) and fifth among rookie leaders in shots on goal (155). He recorded the 20th goal of his freshman season on Mar. 31 vs. Ottawa, becoming just the third Panthers rookie to score at least 20 goals joining Mark Parrish (24) and Kristian Huselius (25).

1. LW David Booth sits just one goal shy of his first 30 goal season and he would become just the sixth player in Panthers history to achieve that mark joining Pavel Bure (59-2000/01, 58-1999/2000), Olli Jokinen (39-2006/07, 38-2005/06, 36-2002/03, 34-2007/08), Ray Whitney (32-1997/98), Nathan Horton (31-2006/07) and Scott Mellanby (30-1993/94).
