The popular first-round draft pick (4th overall) in 2001, is in his seventhh NHL season, all with the Cats. The Toronto, Ontario native had his second straight 40 point season, finishing with 13 goals and 29 assists in 74 games. He also set a career high in game-winning goals with four.
First day of camp.
Got practice at 10. A scrimmage at 11. A little off ice workout after that. Then done for the day. Back at it Sunday with the same schedule.
The first day is always tough. And (Saturday) will be tough. They’re going to push us hard at practice. They’re going to blow our legs and lungs out. Then there’s the first scrimmage. Other than the young kids, guys haven’t played a game in four, five months. So it will be about getting your timing back, getting used to your linemates a little and getting the rust out .
It’s going to be fun. You get to know the boys. We’ll work hard and have a good day and do the same thing Sunday then get ready to leave Monday. It will be a busy trip. A lot of travel. I don’t know how it’s going to work, who is playing where, but we’re excited and it really doesn’t matter where we play.
I think we have a good group of guys here…an awesome group. The new guys are fitting in real well. The energy is good. The boys are ready to go. So far things have been great. There’s even some pranks being pulled. Standard stuff. Guys hiding stuff or messing with guys on testing day. Boys being boys.
But we’re ready and we’re excited about the start of camp.
Talk to you soon
