Panthers Acquire F Jonathan Sim from Philadelphia Flyers

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Mike Keenan announced today that F Jonathan Sim was acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Florida's sixth round draft pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Sim, 28, played in 39 games with Philadelphia this season posting 14 points (7-7) with 28 penalty minutes. He has also recorded four power play goals, two game-winning goals and has averaged 10:58 of ice time. Philadelphia acquired Sim as a free agent on August 2, 2005.

The Nova Scotia native has played on five NHL teams (Dallas, Nashville, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia) in his eight NHL seasons. Sim has appeared in 197 career games posting 50 points (25-25) and 11 playoff games, scoring one goal.

Sim recorded 65 points (37-28) as well as collecting 78 penalty minutes in 73 regular season games for Philadelphia's AHL affiliate the Philadelphia Phantoms and the Utah Grizzlies during the 2004-05 campaign. Sim lead the Phantoms to a Calder Cup championship posting 17 points (10-7) in 21 playoff contests.
