SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Jacques Martin announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Gregory Campbell. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Campbell, 24, appeared in 81 games for the Panthers this past season, scoring 18 points (5-13-18) and led the Panthers with two short-handed goals. Campbell has played in 226 games, all for the Panthers during his three-year NHL career scoring 14 goals and 22 assists. Since being called up from Rochester (AHL) on Nov. 9, 2005, a span of 226 games, Campbell has only missed a game due to injury or illness five times.

“Gregory has been one of our best penalty killers the past two seasons and he is a hard working player who is always the first on the ice at practice and the last one off,” said Martin. “He is a high character individual who has been an asset to our team both on and off the ice. We look forward to his continued contributions for the next two years.”

"Just to be a part of this team, I'm excited," said Campbell. "But I want to expand my role... I feel i have more to give."

The 6-foot-0, 197-pound center won a Memorial Cup Championship as a member of the Kitchener Rangers (OHL), a team that was coached by new Panthers bench boss Peter DeBoer.

Campbell was drafted by Florida with their fourth choice, (67th overall), in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
