Panthers Recall Shawn Matthias

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Jacques Martin announced today the club has called up C Shawn Matthias from Rochester for tonight’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Matthias, 20, earned his third recall of the season Dec. 31 before being sent back to Rochester on Jan. 5. In 13 games with the Panthers this season, Matthias has averaged 9:22 of ice time with two assists and 10 shots in 13 games.
Matthias has played 24 games in Rochester this season recording three goals and an assist.
The Panthers have picked up three of a possible four points in their last two games. They conclude a four-game road trip this evening in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre.
The Panthers return to the BankAtlantic Center later this week for two critical games against Southeast Division rivals. They play host to Carolina on Thursday, January 8 and Atlanta on Saturday afternoon, January 10 as part of Kids Day presented by Dr. Kawa.
