Tanner\'s Take: Halloween & Baseball
Tanner Glass, who gained a loyal following last year both as a  Panther and Rochester American with his gritty, physical play, will provide periodic updates during the season on life as a professional hockey play.

Glass split his time last season between the NHL and American Hockey League, playing in 43 games with the Amerks and 41 with the Panthers.

After a tough start to the season we came out of this past weekend with our first win, against Quad City. We've played some good hockey at stretches this season but just hadn't been able to put it together for a full game. “Becks” played really well in goal and we were able to outscore them in the third for our first win. I think this win is one we need to build on and one that our young players can take pride in.

Halloween is upon us and I'm getting pretty excited about it. What a great holiday! As a kid I absolutely loved it and not much has changed. I remember being a Ninja Turtle for three years straight. Rafael every time, he was the man. I grew up in a really small town so the goal was always to hit every house in town and I think for a few years there we actually did it. I think the boys on our team are pretty excited about it as well.

Not sure how many baseball fans we have out there but I just finished watching the deciding game of the World Series. The Phillies pulled out a tight 4-3 win on their home field, which is always good for the fans. One position I really admire in pro sports is the closing pitcher. Just watching the faces of those guys in the late innings of games is pretty cool. The way they deal with the immense stress and stay so cool and calm is incredible. I also love the camera shots they can produce now. They zoom right in on the pitcher's face immediately before he throws a pitch that can seal the World Series victory. To me that's pretty cool. It's almost as good as being there.

Watching the Phillies win that game in front of their home fans tonight made me realize how excited I am to be starting a six-game homestand. It's always nice to be at home at The Blue Cross arena in front of our fans. It kicks off this weekend with divisional games against Toronto and Hamilton. Both teams are playing pretty well right now so it will be a good test for us.
