SUNRISE, FL – The Florida Panthers today announced their efforts in conjunction with the National Hockey League’s 10th Anniversary of their Hockey Fights Cancer Initiative. The Panthers have designated Saturday, October 13 as their Hockey Fights Cancer night and in support of this initiative, Florida Panthers coaches and broadcasters will wear pink ties to raise awareness for cancer related causes.

Additionally, throughout the month of October, all Panthers players will wear a pink Hockey Fights Cancer decal on their helmets. Fans can show their support by logging on to www.shop.nhl.com and purchasing commemorative Hockey Fights Cancer items including men’s pink ties, ladies’ team caps and Reflections on a Hockey Season photo books.

The Florida Panthers Foundation has also partnered with FSN Florida and National City to create the “Saving Lives One Puck At A Time” campaign. Fans can pledge any dollar amount per save made by Panthers goaltenders in the month of October, after the conclusion of the Panthers game versus the Carolina Hurricanes on October 31, the total number of saves made during the month will be announced. At that point, each fan who signs up to participate in this program will be notified of their total donation. Fans will also receive a special gift at the conclusion of the month based on their total contribution. Fans can register their pledge on the Florida Panthers website as well as at the Florida Panthers Foundation table outside of section 124 during the month of October.

“We are proud to announce our efforts in promoting the 10th anniversary of the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer initiative,” said Executive Director Alaina Miller. “I would like to thank all of our coaches and broadcasters for their support of this initiative. Additionally, we are proud to partner with FSN Florida and National City to create the ‘Saving Lives One Puck At A Time’ program. It’s something extra that we can do to raise awareness and funds for this most worthwhile cause and we are excited at the chance to give our fans the opportunity to support breast cancer research.”

South Florida will soon see a multi-faceted media campaign to introduce the program to the South Florida community, including:
•    Television commercials on FSN Florida and Sun Sports
•    Billboards throughout the South Florida area
•    Radio advertisements on 790 the Ticket
•    In-arena activation
