Florida Panthers Foundation Raises Over $50,000 at Golf Classic
Over 160 Guests Attended Inaugural Event presented by Hyundai

SUNRISE, FL – The Florida Panthers Foundation raised over $50,000 at their Inaugural Golf Classic presented by Hyundai on Monday, Jan. 14 at Weston Hills Country Club. Over 160 guests attended the sold-out event which featured fans teeing it up with Florida Panthers players, coaches and broadcasters.  The Inaugural Golf Classic was additionally sponsored by IKEA, Sziro Jewelry, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Dr. Steven D. Gelbard, M.D., P.A.

The Inaugural Golf Classic began with a 10:30 shotgun tee off on the Tour Course at Weston Hills Country Club. Each foursome was joined by a Panthers player, coach or broadcaster and throughout the day each guest enjoyed gourmet catering and beverages on each hole of the course.

“I am proud to announce that our Inaugural Golf Classic presented by Hyundai raised over $50,000,” said Executive Director Alaina Miller. “The Inaugural Golf Classic was an outstanding event and I would like to thank the entire Florida Panthers team for their support of this event. Additionally, I would like to thank Weston Hills Country Club and their exceptional staff for hosting this event. Of course, this event would not have been as successful without the generous support of our sponsors and fans. We look forward to the same level of support for our 3rd Annual Ice & Dice Casino Night presented by Publix Super Markets on February 28.”

The Florida Panthers Foundation is currently underway with planning the 3rd Annual Ice & Dice Casino Night, presented by Publix Super Markets. This event, which is the signature fundraising event of the 2007-08 season, is being held at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa on Thursday, February 28 from 7 – 11 p.m. Sponsorships are still available, for more information, please call (954) 835-7715.

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital has been named as a preferred beneficiary of the Florida Panthers Foundation. The hospital will receive $500 from the Foundation for every Panthers goal scored at the BankAtlantic Center during the 2007-08 season.

Over the past year the Florida Panthers Foundation has donated funds to the following organizations:  The Andy Roddick Foundation, the Transplant Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, Goldie’s Gang, Deliver the Dream and the Jewish National Fund.

Additionally, the Florida Panthers Foundation has donated Florida Panthers game tickets and auction items including team-signed jerseys and sticks and Zamboni rides to various South Florida charities. Recipients include: Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Broward County, American Cancer Society, JAFCO, Homestead Air Reserve, Soref JCC, Kids in Distress, American Jewish Community, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Rock and Wrap It Up!.
