Well, it’s been a few days since my last blog, so I felt it was time to update you on a few items.
Without a doubt, it’s been a bit quiet at the BankAtlantic Center since locker clean out day on Monday, but we remain busy at work planning for next season. The ice has been removed and we are now preparing for our upcoming concerts and shows. Our next big show is Fleetwood Mac on April 23. Good seats are still available (www.ticketmaster.com).
Over the next few weeks, we will evaluate every facet of our organization as we begin to create our strategy for next year. Both business and hockey operations will fully assess the good and bad from this season in order to make the necessary improvements to continue our momentum in the future.
Needless to say, our business is year round and our responsibilities don't stop just because we are not playing games. The offseason or “real season” is when we do our heavy lifting and make the key decisions that will ultimately determine our success.
With this said, I did decide to close the BankAtlantic Center on Thursday and Friday to give our staff a few days to rest and reenergize. The last ten months have been extremely busy and everyone deserves a few days away from the office. We will reopen for business on Monday.
Personally, I am going to work as hard as necessary to make sure we continue to push our business forward. Off the ice, we have accomplished many of our goals but there is still room for improvement. We need to sell more season tickets. We need to make sure we renew as many of our current season seat holders as we can. We need to expand our sponsor base and renew existing partners and we need to work on our suite renewals. This is not an easy task, but we have the best staff in the industry and the most loyal fans in the NHL, so I like our chances.
Once again, if you have any comments or suggestions for me, please e-mail me at email@example.com. I would love to hear from you. Additionally, I have started my own twitter page (twitter.com/panthersyormark) and hope that you will sign up as a follower.
Have a fantastic Wednesday and I will catch up with you later this week.
