Panthers Send Four To Rochester
By Dave Joseph for
The Panthers cut their roster a bit upon returning early Sunday morning from Finland, sending forwards Michal Repik and Mike Duco, defenseman Jason Garrison and goalie Alexander Salak to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Rochester, N.Y.
The four players were taken to Finland for the Panthers season-opening series last weekend against the Blackhawks but did not see any game action. Shawn Matthias, who started the season in Rochester last season, played a total of 15:25 in those games while rookie defenseman Dmitry Kulikov played 20:27 against the Blackhawks Friday evening and 16:40 Saturday. Salak is expected to compete for the No. 1 job in goal with the Amerks.
Rochester opened its season Saturday with a 3-2 loss to Lake Erie. The two teams meet again Friday in Rochester.
The Panthers, who arrived in South Florida at approximately 4 a.m., Sunday morning, will practice Monday at incredible ICE at approximately 11 a.m. is the official Web site of the Florida Panthers.
