Happy Sunday. First off, I want to thank you all for our incredible support and well wishes in the aftermath of David Booth’s injury during last night’s game vs. the Philadelphia Flyers.
Since David left the game on a stretcher, following a hit to the head from Flyers forward Mike Richards, the outpouring of well wishes and emotion for David, from our fans and fans around the league, has been both incredible and touching.
After spending last night in a local area hospital, under observation from Panthers medical staff and area doctors, I am pleased to report that David is feeling better and on his way back to South Florida today. That said, I’m sure he appreciates all of the support from fans, as does Radek Dvorak, who was also injured during last night’s contest.
Beyond the injuries to Radek and David, I’m sure our fans are frustrated by our 2-6-1 start. But I want to assure you that we are looking within ourselves as an organization, and are reminded of our team’s ability to turn around tough starts.
I will readily admit that our daunting preseason schedule and trip to Finland has made the start of the regular season increasingly difficult. But I am reminded that this same core group of players were one of the NHL’s best teams from November on in 2008-09. I’m confident we can do that again.
For now though, as a team and a business we are focused on our next home game on Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators. With an energetic crowd at the BankAtlantic Center and a good effort on the ice, we can start moving up the standings.
Today though, I plan on spending some time relaxing with my family and perhaps enjoying some NFL football action. Then tomorrow it’s back to work, and back to preparing for Wednesday’s home game vs. Ottawa. On behalf of the entire organization, I want to thank you once again for your support of our injured players, and our team, during this time. Have a great Sunday and thanks for reading.
