MY360: Appreciation To Communication
“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.” – George Bernard Shaw

In the 24 hours-plus since Florida Panthers Managing Partners Cliff Viner and Stu Siegel sent a letter to fans and supporters outlining their thoughts and direction in regards to this hockey club, the responses have been both swift and varied.

But one of the most consistent reactions, especially among fans, has been appreciation for Cliff and Stu’s willingness to communicate honestly about the state of this Panthers team, and outline the organization’s plan to deliver the success that we all crave.

The simple fact is, since Cliff and Stu were introduced as Managing Partners in November, the entire organization has made a commitment to be accessible to our fans and supporters, and to communicate our reasoning, our plan and our direction in every aspect of our business – from the Panthers to concerts and shows, to our various business and community initiatives.

Through numerous outlets such as our Town Hall Meetings, FloridaPanthers.com, our newsletters and other e-mail correspondences and more, we have worked hard to keep all of our constituents informed and engaged on the day-to-day operations here at SSE. And that is something, especially based on fan feedback, that we are committed to continuing in the future.

I’ve spent several hours on the phone with some of our fans over the last day as well, talking to them about their renewals, and their overall feelings about this franchise. Every fan is unique, but most were absolutely thrilled to see our owners talk so candidly about the hockey team that they themselves cheer on with such passion and emotion.

Quite simply, we view our fans as investors in this company, as people who have a stake and a say in the success and the direction of this organization, so it is only natural, that we do our best to give them insight and keep them informed whenever possible.

That said, following Saturday night’s game, the last Panthers game before the Olympic Break, things will slow down a bit on the hockey side until the team starts practicing again in late February. But while many of you are enjoying the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and supporting Cats players Tomas Vokoun and Dennis Seidenberg as they go for Gold for their home nations, keep in mind that the BankAtlantic Center will be far from dormant.

In fact, on consecutive Saturday nights, the “Center of it All” will host two of the biggest shows in its history with Jay-Z (Feb. 20) and Jimmy Buffett (Feb. 27) taking the stage in Sunrise. That pair of incredible concerts will act as a prelude to an intense March schedule that includes 21 events in 31 days and features some of the biggest names in entertainment such as Taylor Swift, Michael Buble and Eric Clapton, as well as seven Panthers home games.

The two months between now and the end of the NHL season will be as busy and electrifying as any we’ve had at the BankAtlantic Center. As passionate supporters of SSE, we hope you enjoy every exciting moment. Thanks for reading and Go Panthers.

Yormark has also dedicated considerable time to the South Florida community including acting as President of the City of Sunrise Foundation, sitting on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County and being a member of the Young President’s Organization.

That said, Yormark continues to expand the business and build the SSE brand through projects such as the expansion of incredible ICE and the development of the area surrounding the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise through Oz.

Before joining SSE, Yormark spent four seasons with Palace Sports & Entertainment and the Tampa Bay Lightning, most recently as Executive Vice President, where he was a Tampa Bay Business Journal Forty Under 40 Award Winner and brokered the naming rights partnership that saw the Ice Palace become the St. Pete Times Forum. He has also served as Vice President of Integrated Sales and Broadcasting for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He began his professional career in corporate sponsorship sales with the New York Yankees and eventually joined the media rep firm Katz Communications in New York City, where he oversaw sports sponsorship sales for their affiliated television stations.
