Brandon Rebounds With Shutout
By Glenn Odebralski for

Losing their first game in the Memorial Cup, both Brandon and Moncton were looking to avoid the 0-2 hole that most never come back from.

For Brandon, they had to rebound from a 9-3 thumping by Windsor. Moncton on the other hand was trying to regroup from blowing a three goal lead in a 5-4 loss to Calgary the night before.

With the home crowd thoroughly behind them, Brandon made short work of Moncton Sunday, shutting out the Wildcats 4-0.

Edmonton prospect Toni Rajala put the Wheat Kings on the board off a two-on-one rush. Receiving the pass from Aaron Lewadniuk, Rajala beat Nicola Riopel with a backhander with 10:14 gone in the first.

That would all Jacog De Serres would need as the Kings netminder turned away all 31 Wildcat shots.

Rajala padded the Kings lead to 2-0 with his second of the game 8:17 into the second. Then Kings prospect Brayden Schenn netted his first of the game on a power play 4:02 later to make it 3-0 after two.

Raedeke ended the scoring with a goal 2:24 into the third. is the official Web site of the Florida Panthers. Florida Panthers and are trademarks of the Florida Panthers Hockey Club, Ltd.
