Spitfires Win Their Way To Finals
By Glenn Odebralski for floridapanthers.com

There was a lot on the line in Monday night's matchup between Windsor and Calgary.

And to think it was only the second game of the tournament.

That's because the winner of their game would receive a bye all the way to the Championship game.

With that, Windsor will be playing for their second consecutive Memorial Cup championship as they earned a 6-2 victory over the Hitmen thanks to a three-point effort from potential number-one pick in the 2010 NHL draft Taylor Hall.

Just like in their first game against Brandon, the Spitfires jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the first four minutes of the game. Dale Mitchell put the OHL champs on the board 2:38 into the contest, beating Martin Jones with.

Then Hall went to work. He netted his third of the tournament with a power play goal 3:55 in.

With the score 2-0 in the second, Hall set up Justin Shugg 8:15 in to put the Spitfires in control with a 3-0 advantage.

Calgary got the score to within one as the clock hit zero to end the second, in large part to Jimmy Bubnick. The center scored with 11:43 gone and then 3:13 later to bring them to within 3-2.

Hall put the dagger into the Hitmen's hearts just 12 seconds into the third and final period. Picking off a pass, he made his way in all alone on Jones and slipped the puck five-hole for his third point of the night and a 4-2 lead.

Kenny Ryan put the game out of reach with a goal with 3:04 left in the game while Adam Wallace finished the scoring with an empty net goal with 41 seconds left.

Scott Timmins finished a plus-one on the game.
