Seen as scouts as a power forward, Brett Connolly tops in as the third ranked prospect despite playing in just 16 games during the 2009-10 campaign.

Connolly was dominant in those games however, registering 19 points (10 goals). that came after missing most of the season due to several hip flexor injuries.

Connolly did have a fantastic first season in the WHL, becoming the first 16-year old to score 30 goals in the season since Patrick Marleau (1995-96).

NHL Central Scouting's Peter Sullivan: “He puts the puck in the net, he's got good size, great on-ice awareness. He's not a crasher or a banger, but he finishes his checks. He does everything well."

Connolly On Connolly: "I like (Columbus forward) Rick Nash. He’s a big, strong skilled forward who I want to model my game around. We have similar traits"

Injury Woes Making Connolly's Spot A Tough Call
(5.11.10) Drafting players at its best is a high-level gamble, and that comes after scouts have had five, 10 or more opportunities to see a player in action.

But what about when scouts can't see that player -- how are they supposed to file a fair evaluation?

That's the conundrum facing NHL teams when their turn comes to pick and highly talented Prince George Cougars right wing Brett Connolly remains on the board.
