Panthers Make Final Push To Reach $100,000 Goal For Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk In Broward County
Light The Night Walk comes on heels of $400,000 donation to Broward Health last week

SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that, on the heels of the Florida Panthers Foundation’s $400,000 donation to the Broward Health Foundation and Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, the Panthers organization is now turning it’s attention to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk in Broward County.
With SSE president & COO Michael Yormark acting as the 2010 Broward Walk Chair for Light The Night, the Panthers have set a record goal of raising $100,000 to fight blood cancers. Thus far the Cats walk team has raised approximately $73,000 through sponsorships and independent donations. With just over two weeks left until the Broward Walk – Saturday, Nov. 13 at Huizenga Plaza in Ft. Lauderdale – Yormark and the Panthers are making a final push to raise the $27,000 needed to hit their goal.
In that vein, Yormark will be greeting fans as they enter the BankAtlantic Center for the Panthers home games on Wednesday, Nov. 3 vs. Atlanta and Friday, Nov. 5 vs. Carolina. He’ll be there to inform fans about Light The Night’s mission to cure blood cancers and directing them to the Florida Panthers Foundation table to participate in that night’s Light The Night raffle. In addition, fans can also help the Panthers reach their $100,000 goal by making an independent donation or signing up to walk at http://pages.lightthenight.org/sfl/Huizenga10/FloridaPanthers.
The Panthers continue to be active in the community in support of the Foundation’s focus on supporting the fight against pediatric cancer. Last week the Florida Panthers Foundation donated $400,000 to the Broward Health Foundation and its renovation of the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital’s pediatric oncology unit. As part of the renovation, much of the pediatric oncology unit will now be adorned with Florida Panthers-themed colors, designs and graphics.
The donation was part of the Foundation’s “Panthers Pledge for Pediatric Cancer”:
- We pledge to donate over $250,000 to individuals and families affected by pediatric cancer.
- We pledge to volunteer staff hours to assist individuals and families affected by
pediatric cancer.
- We pledge to provide unique opportunities and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for individuals and families affected by pediatric cancer.
- We pledge to cultivate relationships and create alliances with community organizations that are focused on supporting individuals and families affected by pediatric cancer.
The Florida Panthers Foundation has two pillar events remaining during the 2010-11 NHL season: the Foundation Golf Tournament on Dec. 13 and Bowling Event on Feb. 5. The Foundation’s first pillar event, the sold out Fourth Annual Face-Off Luncheon, raised $165,000 in support of the fight against pediatric cancer.
