The players stopped by each child’s room to give them a Party City Halloween candy basket. The players then made a special trip to the pediatric oncology unit, where Panthers imagery adorns the hallways, to put up Thanksgiving decorations on each pediatric cancer patient’s door.
“We want our community to know that our team is here to support the children and families affected by pediatric cancer,” said McCabe, the Panthers Captain. “It also feels great to know that our organization has such a visible presence at the hospital and that we are doing our part to put smiles on kids faces every day.”
This hospital visit comes on the heels of a number of significant charitable commitments by the Panthers organization including the charitable suite purchased by Panthers players, the $400,000 donation to the Broward Health Foundation, the “Saves For Kids” program with goalies Tomas Vokoun and Scott Clemmensen, the “Sellout For Charity Program,” the sold out Florida Panthers Foundation Face Off Luncheon which raised more than $165,000, and President & COO Michael Yormark’s chairmanship of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk in Broward County with a goal of $100,000.
Panthers fans can be a part of the team’s commitment to pediatric cancer by attending the two remaining pillar events of the Florida Panthers Foundation: the Foundation Golf Tournament on Dec. 13 at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs and Bowling Event on Feb. 5 at Strikes in Boca Raton – both in support of the fight against pediatric cancer.
