Panthers Acquire F Ryan Carter And 2011 Fifth Round Draft Pick From Carolina In Exchange For F Cory Stillman

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has acquired F Ryan Carter and a fifth round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for F Cory Stillman.
 
“Ryan Carter is the type of big and aggressive player that can make an immediate impact as part of our forward unit,” said Tallon. “In addition, by acquiring another 2011 Draft pick we now have nine total selections this year and another opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of our franchise come June.
 
“That said, on behalf of the entire Florida Panthers organization we’d also like to thank Cory Stillman for his leadership and professionalism during his time in South Florida, and wish him all the best in the future.”

Carter, 27, is a 6-2, 200-pound forward from White Bear Lake, Minn. He has played in 170 career NHL games with Anaheim (2006-10) and Carolina (2010-11), registering 12 goals, 20 assists, 32 points and 163 PIM. He played two years of college hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato scoring 34 goals and 58 points in 76 games.
 
Florida plays their final game of a four-game road trip tomorrow night when they visit the Atlanta Thrashers at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on FOX Sports Florida and on Sports Radio 560 WQAM.
