Florida Panthers Acquire LW Sergei Samsonov From Carolina Hurricanes In Exchange For D Bryan Allen

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has acquired LW Sergei Samsonov from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for D Bryan Allen.
 
“Sergei is an experienced forward who we are pleased to have acquired,” said Tallon. “He is a hard-working, skilled winger who brings goal-scoring ability and veteran leadership to our club.”
 
Samsonov, 32, has played in 868 career National Hockey League games with Boston (1997-2006), Edmonton (2005-06), Montreal (2006-07), Chicago (2007-08) and Carolina (2007-2011) recording 232 goals, 325 assists and 207 PIM. The Moscow, Russia native has recorded at least 40 points eight times in his 13-year playing career. Samsonov has played in 76 post season games with Boston, Edmonton and Carolina scoring 18 goals with 29 assists, reaching the Stanley Cup Finals with the Oilers during the 2005-06 campaign.
 
Samsonov was drafted by Boston with their second choice (8th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
