Panthers Re-sign Tim Kennedy

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has re-signed LW Tim Kennedy to a one-year, two-way contract.
“Tim is a young, skilled forward who we are pleased to have re-signed,” said Tallon. “He has played for Head Coach Kevin Dineen in Portland and we look forward to Tim’s continued development and growth within our organization.”
Kennedy, 25, who was acquired by Florida on Feb. 26 in a trade with the NY Rangers, has appeared in 85 career National Hockey League games with Buffalo (2008-10) and Florida (2011), registering 27 points (10-17-27) and 50 PIM. Kennedy played in six games with Florida this season, recording his first point, an assist Apr. 9 vs. Washington.
A sixth round pick by the Washington Capitals in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Kennedy scored 10 goals with 16 assists while playing for Buffalo during the 2009-10 campaign. Kennedy also recorded a team high 67 points (18-49-67) while playing in Portland (AHL) under new Panthers head coach Kevin Dineen during the 2008-09 season.
The Buffalo, N.Y. native played three years of college hockey at Michigan State University and won a NCAA Championship in 2007. Kennedy paced Michigan State in scoring in back-to-back seasons (06-07 and 07-08).
