2. Great Pace: Tied at one after two and just three goals combined overall, you wouldn't have known that it was that low of a scoring game as the two teams took turns with the momentum on their side. Helped by numerous power play advantages throughout, the two teams combined for 23 shots in the first and another 28 in the second and then 21 in the third. Both goaltenders made numerous Play Of The Night status saves to keep the score the way it was for so long. 3. Markstrom Unreal: Jacob Markstrom was notified that he would get the start in a raucous Bell Centre just prior to the game. Any nerves that might have been with the Montreal faithful didn't seem to be as Markstrom litterly stood on his head the entire night. He did get a lot of help from his teammates but a lot of his saves (40 in all) were made for the highlight reel. Markstrom has now won two games in a row, his first two of his career. |

7. Scoring a power play goal in the first period, the Panthers have now scored seven power play goals away from the BankAtlantic Center. That is good enough for atop the league as they are tied with Colorado for the honor. 9. It was an extremely busy first period in the defensive zone for the Panthers as the Canadiens posted 14 shots on net. Taking two penalties helped the Habs assault as the put up nine shots and got the goal 3:08 in. 17. The Panthers skaters were all involved in the offense. In fact, 17 of the 18 skaters registered a shot (lone exception being center Shawn Matthias). It was a balanced attack as the most shots came off the stick of defenseman Dmitry Kulikov (four). Forward Scottie Upshall (game-winner) and defenseman Jason Garrison had three shots a piece on the night. 24. Getting their first power play of the night and trailing by one with 5:01 to play in the first, it took the Panthers just 24 seconds to knot the score as Tomas Fleischmann netted his second of the season from in close. 40. Montreal threw 41 shots on net but Jacob Markstrom was there to turn aside 40 of those shots. It was the most saves by a Panthers goalie since Tomas Vokoun stopped 45-of-46 in a 2-1 shootout win in Atlanta Feb. 25, 2011 |
