2. Flash's Resilience: Tomas Fleischmann was having a great game until about midway through the middle stanza. The winger picked up the second assist on Garrison's first period goal after making a move around a defender before putting the pass back to Brian Campbell. He then beautifully set up Versteeg for his 12th of the season with a no look pass from below the goal line. Then midway through the period, Fleischmann was blindsided by an elbow from Rangers forward Andre Deveaux. Laying on the ice for several minutes and Deveaux was given a match penalty for hit to the head. The Panthers couldn't score on the five-minute major, missing a key cog to the man advantage in Fleischmann. Down for awhile, Fleischmann was not out as the came back from the scary hit with less than a minute in the second. The winger finished the gamewith the two assists and 17:52 of ice time. 3. Almost Foiled By Lundqvist: Florida held a distinct shot advantage (38-20) and almost doubled the amount of scoring chances (at least from our point of view) so the score of the game could have been a blow out if not for the heroics of Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist. While facing just seven shots in the opening period, the goaltender was extremely active in the final periods when Florida brought it. Lundqvist turned aside 13 shots in the second and all 17 in the third in keeping New York within striking distance. |

4. Jason Garrison put the Panthers on the board with his power play blast 10:06 into the first period. It was his eighth goal of the season. Half of those goals have come on the man advantage, which ties him for the lead (Kris Versteeg). 5. Picking up assists on the Panthers first two goals, Tomas Fleischmann registered the fifth multi-point game of the season. The Flash has 13 helpers on the young season and has 22 points in 20 games 12. The Panthers allowed eight Rangers shots in the opening period but Florida's defense clamped down allowing just 12 shots over the final 40 minutes. New York only had four shots on net in the second period. 50. The Rangers were physical but putting up 50 hits on the Panthers is mind-boggling. Rangers winger Brandon Dubinsky had almost half of the Panthers total, registering 10 hits compared to the 19 of Florida. 68. Center Stephen Weiss continued his dominance in the face-off circle as he won 13 of his 19 draws (68%). None bigger were two of the three he won in the final minute after a couple of icings. |
