2. The Play Of Theodore: Panthers netminder Jose Theodore continued his strong play this season. Despite coming up one save short, Theodore was tested throughout and had to come up with some pretty big saves. None bigger than the one (or two) on Lightning forward Dana Tyrell from his belly. Tyrell got two wacks at the puck but the Panthers netminder got his glove on it to stop the puck from going into the net for the game's first goal with 13:22 left on the clock. Theodore finished with 29 saves on the night (.936 save percentage). Theodore has a 9-4-3 record this season with a 2.37 goals against average and .922 save percentage. 3. Disappointing End To An Otherwise Extraordinary Homestand: Winning the first three games of their four game homestand, the Panthers were looking to go perfect. After defenseman Dmitry Kulikov was sent to the box for interference 48 seconds into the extra session, that extra point was ultimately lost. That's because sniper Steven Stamkos scored with 19 seconds left in the penalty for his 12th goal of the season. Most would be happy with seven out of eight points but for the Panthers, they knew that they had their opportunities to take all of the points and keep the Lightning from gaining ground in the Division. What made the game even more disapponting was it was the second straight contest that the Panthers had a lead on their cross-state foes yet failed to nail down the second point. |

Memorable fan posts from the game.
Matt Brewster: Still more excited about this years Panthers than I ever was as a two time season ticket holder... Keep it up guys! James Griffin: 7 out of 8 points NO COMPLAINTS !!!!!!!!!!! "In Dale we trust" Mark Zola: Good game in the end..sloppy mistake cost us the game but besides that they played hard..it's exciting to see this rivalry look way more legit this year! Jeff Main: tough loss, still a point to help our cause at least. let's not look at the downside to this and look towards the next game where they can figure how to better themselves. Come fellow Panther fans! We cheer for our boys regardless, thick & thin! Thomas Ouillette: Can't take penalties in OT. Just can't do it. |

4. Scoring the game's first goal in the second period, Tomas Fleischmann extended his point streak to four games where he has posted six points (3-3) over that time frame. 10. With their goals in the game, both Fleischmann and Tampa forward Vincent Lecavalier netted their 10th of the season. Also, with the game-winner, Steven Stamkos recorded the 10th of his career against the Panthers (21 games). 13. After combining for just 12 shots in the opening period, both the Panthers and Lightning had 13 shots each. 21. Stamkos' winning power play goal in overtime ended a pretty good streak for the Panthers penalty killing unit as they had successfully killed 21 straight penalties over the last eight games. Florida's last power play goal allowed came on October 31 against Winnipeg. 25. Center Stephen Weiss was a busy man in the face-off circle, taking a game-high 25 draws. While finishing winning just 12 of those draws (48%), Weiss accounted for 42% of the team's face-offs (60 total). Mike Santorelli was the next closest Panther with just 12 face-offs taken. |
