2. A Lot Of Feistiness: These two teams rarerly see each other, being that they aren't in the same conference but you wouldn't have guessed that as it was chippy from the start. Los Angeles was the more involved in the hit category, finishing with 45 hits compared to Florida's 18. The two teams both had huge checks throughout the night, none bigger than Bergenheim's body check on former Flyers captain Mike Richards in open ice. The hit sent Richards into a rage as he slashed Bergenheim three times before a penalty was called. After the whistle, Bergenheim and the Kings Jarret Stoll registered roughing penalties while Richards went off for slashing and roughing. Both Bergenheim and winger Tomas Kopecky were thorns in the side of the Kings, especially that of Quick. Looking to dig the puck out from the netminder, both players got the rushed by Kings players and Quick following the whistles. 3. Only Wish For A Better Fate: There's games where you don't deserve to win and you do and there's games that you deserve a better fate but you don't and Thursday night's game was the latter as Florida did everything right except find the back of the net. They had their chances, putting up 42 shots on Quick. Despite outplaying the Kings, they couldn't find a way to beat the Kings netminder other than Bergenheim's tally. Los Angeles helped Florida's cause as they gave them six power play opportunities, including 35 seconds of 5-on-3 power play time. The Panthers recorded 13 of their 42 shots on net while on the man advantage (9.26 of time). |

1. It took a while to get his first NHL point but Erik Gudbranson did it in his 19th NHL game as his shot from the point was deflected and then rebounded in by Sean Bergenheim. 7. Bergenheim put up a season high (also tied an individual season high for a game) with seven shots on net while recording the lone Panthers' goal. 13. Florida had 42 shots on net, almost 31% of them came on the man advantage. The Panthers recorded 13 shots on the power play. 19. The Kings brought the lumber in the opening period as they registered 19 hits against the Panthers. Florida in comparison was credited with just four hits on net. Slava Voynov led the way with five hits. 76. The Panthers finished with the 42 shots on net but they actually took much much more on the Kings. Los Angeles finished with 17 blocked shots and Florida were credited with another 17 missed shots (76). |
