Stanley C. Panther surprised Monica Moorman, a fourth grade teacher at the school with the program's award for the month of February.
Announced in November as one of three schools and education initatives, the Teacher of the Month program presented by Publix is a five-month initiative that recognizes educators in the South Florida area for their accomplishments and impact on students. All teachers currently employed by a school (kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school, vocational, special education) in the South Florida region are eligible to be nominated. College, graduate and student teachers are not eligible for the award.
Ms. Moorman was selected through a nominated process online by her students and peers because she "...is creative and innovating in her instruction and believes that teachers are also lifelong learners. She is an inspiration every day." She received a commemorative certificate along with a set of tickets to the February 19th game against the Anaheim Ducks. She also received an official "We See Red" t-shirt and Panthers hat along with a bag of Panthers prizes to share with her classroom.
