2. Power Outage: While the game had a flow to it in terms of limited penalties and whistles, the teams did get their chances on the power play. Florida finished with eight minutes of power play time while Anaheim had four minutes. Each had a power play chance before the game was eight minutes old. The Panthers then really had a golden opportunity to tie the game as Lubomir Visnovsky was sent off for four minutes for high-sticking Tomas Fleischmann. After posting four shots on net in their first power play of the night, the Panthers looked like they missed one of their best playmakers (Fleischmann was getting stitched in the locker room) as the power play units went totally out in not recording a shot on net over the four minute span. Both units had trouble getting set up in the Ducks zone. Both Florida and Anaheim finished with five shots on net while on the man advantage. 3. A Goaltending Duel: It doesn't happen enough or a lot but Thedore and the Ducks Jonas Hiller made the game a goaltending duel as both netminders took turns making big saves in keeping the offenses off the board. One of the game's biggest saves came actually with no score as Saku Koivu found himself all alone in front of the net. The puck came to him and Theodore got just enough of the puck with his stick for it to hit the post before covering up on the play after diving back 5:34 in. Theodore finished with 25 saves on the night but took the loss as Hiller was one better in stopping all 31 Panthers shots. Florida threw up double digit shots in each period but could not find an answer to Hiller. Former Panther Niklas Hagman ice the game with an empty net goal with 14.3 seconds left on the clock. |

Memorable fan posts from the game.
Diego Fernando Robles: I love the panthers no matter where they are on the table :). Let's go cats! Francisco Oporta: I'm pretty sure the Ducks aren't unhappy they got outshot. Cause you know they made 2 of them go in that net thingy. Theo btw deserves much more than what his teammates are giving him which is nothing. Ryan Waton: ...this year, if we dont make it to the playoffs, it will be particularly painful. A collapse is much more painful, than a useless late-year surge Shannon Lesovoy: Theodore keeps playing great! We just need more goals and less injuries! Daniel Landon Chiarelli: The Panthers really need to step it up down the stretch, I have been saying this for weeks, they need some explosive, goal-scorers to boost the offense. You cannot win with 0 goals! |

1. Chalk up another Panthers debut this season. Called up on Saturday, Nolan Yonkman made his Florida debut against Anaheim. Signed on the first day of free agency and introduced at a big press conference with all of the other summer moves, the 30-year old had played in 66 NHL games prior to making his Cats debut. |
