Post-Game Notes: Panthers 2, Flyers 1
The Panthers earned their first victory against the Flyers this season. With the win, Florida has now defeated every Eastern Conference team at least once this season. Since suffering a 5-0 loss in Philly on March 8, Florida has gone 5-0-1, outscoring its opponents 19-8 and not allowing more than two goals in each of those six games.

The Panthers stretched their win streak to five games, Florida’s longest win streak since its franchise-record, seven-game win streak (two in OT) March 2-16, 2008.

Florida moved to 36-23-13, its best record through 72 games since going 37-25-5-5 in 1999-2000. With 10 games left, the Panthers’ 85 points have already bested their full-season totals for eight of their last 10 seasons.

The Panthers stretched their lead to five points over Washington for first place in the Southeast Division and the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference (two points behind No. 2 Boston). Florida has now been in first place for 109 days on the season, including a current run of 24 straight days following a two-goal, third-period comeback in a 3-2 shootout win in Carolina (Florida is 9-3-1 since that win). According to Elias Sports Bureau, this is the latest the Panthers have ever been in first place in their division, previously sitting in the top spot through 68 games on March 10, 2000.

Scott Clemmensen made his first appearance in eight games for Florida, his first action since a 3-1 loss vs. Nashville on March 3. He stopped 35-of-36 shots and was a deflection off a Panthers’ skate away from his second shutout of the season.

After taking a season-low 17 shots in their last game, Florida set a new low with just 13 shots in the game.

Stephen Weiss scored the opening goal, extending his point streak to three games (2-2-4).He’s tied Tomas Fleischmann for the team lead with 52 points (18-34-52) in 70 games this season.

Brian Campbell tallied two assists, and he now has five helpers in his last three games. He has 49 points (4-45-49) in 72 games this season and eight multi-point games(Florida is 7-0-1).

One game after netting the shootout winner in his return from a 23-game absence (knee), Dmitry Kulikov set a career high with his 21st assist of the season. He now has 25points (4-21-25) in 48 games this season, just one point shy of his career high 26 points (6-20-26) set in 72 games last season.

Sean Bergenheim extended his career high with his 17th goal of the season and he now has 22points (17-5-22) in just 52 games this year.

Mikael Samuelsson tallied an assist to extend his point streak to four games (3-3-6). He has 23 points (10-13-23) in 39 games with the Panthers after netting three points (1-2-3) in six games with Vancouver to start the season.

The Panthers scored their fifth power play goal in a four-game PPG streak. Florida moved to 26-2-7 when scoring with the man advantage this season, including a 16-0-1 mark when scoring a PPG and not allowing anopponent PPG.

Florida opened up its 13th of 14 sets of back-to-back games this season, moving to 6-4-3 in the first night of action.

Three Panthers missed the game with injury, as Florida has now lost 320 man games to injury this season.

The Panthers return to action tomorrow when they visit Carolina at 7 p.m. on 560 WQAM.
