Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with C Drew Shore.
“Drew had an impressive season at the University of Denver and we’re excited to officially sign him as a part of the Panthers’ organization,” said Tallon. “He’s a skilled playmaker with a nice, well-rounded game. He will report to San Antonio and get an opportunity to compete in some professional games.”
Shore, 21, will be part of DU’s weekly press conference, today at 2 p.m. ET/noon MT, on denverpioneers.com
Shore totaled 53 points (22-31-53) in 42 games for the Denver Pioneers (WCHA) during the 2011-12 season, ranking T-4th among all Division I players in the nation in scoring, T-1st in PPG (11), T-8th in assists and T-13th in goals. The Denver native was also named the WCHA Forward of the Week on Oct. 25, 2011. He completed his junior season at the University of Denver Friday, scoring Denver’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Ferris State during the first round of the 2012 NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament.
In his three-season career at DU, Shore totaled 118 points (50-68-118) and 101 PIM in 123 games, leading the Pioneers in scoring each of the last two seasons. He also helped the Pioneers earn NCAA tournament appearances in all of his three seasons.
