Panthers Development Camp to Open July 2

Cats Top Prospects Take the Ice; All Practices Free & Open to the Public

The Florida Panthers announced today that 36 prospects (24 forwards, eight defensemen, four goalies) including five first-round NHL Draft selections will attend the club’s development camp beginning Monday, July 2: D Michael Matheson (No. 23, 2012), C Jonathan Huberdeau (No. 3, 2011), D Erik Gudbranson (No. 3, 2010), C Nick Bjugstad (No. 19, 2010) and C Quinton Howden (No. 25, 2010). The camp will take place at Saveology.com Iceplex in Coral Springs and a complete development camp roster can be found here.

“The development camp gives our prospects an opportunity to understand the amount of commitment that is necessary to play and be successful at the NHL-level,” said Florida Panthers Executive V.P. & General Manager Dale Tallon. “We have put together a comprehensive week that includes on-ice practices, as well as off-ice sessions that emphasize the importance of strength and conditioning, nutrition, teamwork, mental skills and several other training exercises that can lead to being successful at the professional level. We look forward to seeing our fans at the Saveology.com Iceplex throughout the week.”

The complete on-ice schedule for development camp can be found below. All on-ice sessions will take place at the Saveology.com Iceplex in Coral Springs. All players, dates and times are subject to change without notice.

• Monday, July 2: 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. (practice)

• Tuesday, July 3: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. (practice)

• Thursday, July 5: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. (practice/scrimmage)

• Friday, July 6: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. (scrimmage)

The Panthers are set to open the 2012-13 season Oct. 13 against the Tampa Bay Lightning and will raise a Southeast Division Championship banner in a pre-game ceremony.
