Free Agency Look: Right Wingers

Tuesday, 06.26.2012 / 4:30 PM / News
By Joseph Beguiristain  - FloridaPanthers.com

With the start of free agency around the corner, starting on July 1st, FloridaPanthers.com looks at some of the top free agents at their prospective positions. After last summer's haul in Free Agency to help the team win their first Division title in franchise history, will the Panthers add any of the below players to help in their defense of the Southeast crown. (Rankings based off of CBSSports.com's Eye on Hockey staff)

Right Winger

P.A. Parenteau (NY Islanders)

Last season, P.A. Parenteau had his best season yet for the New York Islanders. He posted 67 points, with 49 assists and 18 goals (including six on the power play) as he played a lot with superstar sniper John Tavares. Despite only playing four seasons, Parenteau has already played for three teams.

Another one seems likely since Parenteau will be looking to receive a multi-year offer and the Islanders might not be able to match.

Could the Coyotes' captain be heading elsewhere after spending his entire career with the franchise?

Shane Doan (Phoenix Coyotes)

Doan had another solid year last season for the Phoenix Coyotes. He tallied 50 points in 79 games to help lead the Coyotes to the postseason. He has shown no signs of declining despite being 36-years-old.

Signing their captain to an extension is a high priority for the Coyotes but he will test the free agent market according to several sources.

Jaromir Jagr (Philadelphia Flyers)

The ageless Jaromir Jagr had a solid season after being out of the league for three seasons. Jagr had 54 points and a rating of plus-five in 73 games.

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said there is a 50-50 chance they re-sign him.

Teemu Selanne (Anaheim Ducks)

Despite being 41-years-old, Teemu Selanne played pretty well for the Anaheim Ducks last season. He had 66 points, which was his second highest total in the past five years.

The Ducks are looking to bring back Selanne next season.

Brad Boyes (Buffalo Sabres)

Brad Boyes had his worst season yet in the NHL last season as he only had 23 points in 65 games. The Sabres will likely part ways with Boyes and it is unknown what kind of market there will be for him.
