Panthers And JetBlue To Host Hockey Clinic In Puerto Rico

SUNRISE, FL – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the Florida Panthers will partner with JetBlue Airways to host a hockey clinic at the Boys & Girls Club Las Margaritas in Santurce, Puerto Rico on Thursday, August 16 from 4-7 p.m. Panthers defenseman Ed Jovanovski, goalie coach Robb Tallas, and Panthers alumni Randy Moller and Bill Lindsay will take part in the clinic with more than 100 kids between the ages of 5-16.

“We’re very excited about this unique opportunity to showcase the great sport of hockey to the sports fans and kids of Puerto Rico,” said SSE president & COO Michael R. Yormark. “With the Panthers having visited in the past, we know full well that Puerto Rico is a vibrant and passionate sports market and we are excited to return as part of our innovative partnership with JetBlue.”

JetBlue, the Official Airline Partner of the BankAtlantic Center and the Florida Panthers, will provide transportation and accommodations for the trip as part of their extensive flight schedule to San Juan. A Pillar Partner of the Panthers, JetBlue also is the title sponsor of the Panthers’ “JetBlue Training Facility” and will have a patch on the team’s practice jersey for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

“JetBlue is very excited to be flying hockey to Puerto Rico, where we are the largest carrier,” said Lisa Borromeo, JetBlue’s Director Brand Management and Advertising. “The support we receive on Island is immense and giving back to the community with initiatives like these is fundamental to our brand. We’re happy to be supporting the Panthers on this great opportunity to share their skills and experience with Puerto Rico’s children!”

The Panthers are set to open the 2012-13 season Oct. 13 against the Tampa Bay Lightning and will raise a Southeast Division Championship banner in a pre-game ceremony. Select lower-bowl season tickets are available for as low as $30 now by calling 954-835-PUCK or clicking to FloridaPanthers.com and single-game tickets will be on sale later this summer.
