Panthers Prospect Jonathan Huberdeau Breaks Saint John Franchise Points Record

SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that Florida Panthers prospect, Jonathan Huberdeau broke the Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) franchise points record with a three-point game last night against Val d’OR. Huberdeau surpasses Michael Kirkpatrick’s record of 251 points and now stands at 254 for his career with the Sea Dogs.

Huberdeau was drafted in the first round (third overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Huberdeau serves as Saint John’s captain, and has also captained Team Canada (QMJHL) in the Subway Super Series recently and Canada-Russia Challenge. During Huberdeau’s draft year, he was named Memorial Cup MVP, and helped lead the Sea Dogs to their first Memorial Cup.

Huberdeau has played in 192 regular season games, with 254 points (102-152-254). Huberdeau began playing with the Sea Dogs in 2009-2010, registering 35 points (15-20-35) in 61 games played. Huberdeau’s following season he broke out with 105 points (43-62-105) in 67 games played. His 2011-2012 season was cut short due to a broken foot, but Huberdeau still amassed 72 points (30-42-72) in 37 games played. Huberdeau, now in his fourth season with Saint John, has 42 points (14-28-42) and is tied for seventh in the QMJHL in points scored.
