Huberdeau And Beauviller Invited to Team Canada Selection Camp

SUNRISE, Fla. – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), announced today that Florida Panthers prospects F Jonathan Huberdeau and F Francis Beauvillier have been invited to take part in Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp, that will take place from Dec. 11-13, 2012 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

Huberdeau, 19, paces the Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) with 43 points (15-28-43) in 28 games played this season. The Saint John captain became the franchise all-time points leader last week and now has amassed 255 points (103-152-255) in 193 games played for the Sea Dogs.  The St. Jerome, Quebec native, was drafted by Florida with their first choice (third overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Beauviller, 19, ranks third on the Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL) with 27 points (14-13-27) in 30 games played this season, while leading the club with 55 PIM. The Sorel-Tracy, Quebec native, was drafted by Florida in the sixth round (174th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

In total, 37 players were selected to attend the selection camp and the roster will be finalized on Thursday, Dec. 13.  Canada will play its first game of the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship in Russia on Dec. 26 against Finland, a game that will be broadcast live by TSN/RDS.
