Panthers C Jonathan Huberdeau Named NHL Rookie Of The Month For February

SUNRISE, Fla. – The National Hockey League announced today that Florida Panthers C Jonathan Huberdeau has been named the league’s rookie of the month for February.

Huberdeau, 19, leads all NHL rookies in goals scored (8) and shots (57), while ranking second among rookies in points (13). In 13 games played in February, Huberdeau scored six goals with three assists, while averaging 17:03 TOI/per game. He recorded a career best four-point (2-2-4) game in Philadelphia on Feb. 21, including scoring the game-winner on a penalty shot in Florida’s 5-2 win over the Flyers.

Huberdeau edged Tampa Bay Lightning center Cory Conacher (4-5—9 in 14 games), Panthers teammate Drew Shore (2-8—10 in 13 games) and Dallas Stars left wing Antoine Roussel (4-3—7 in 12 games) for the honor.

The Saint-Jerome, Quebec native, paces the Panthers with eight goals and ranks tied for third on the team with 13 points (8-5-13) in 20 games played.  Huberdeau was drafted by Florida in the first round (third overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Florida travels to Carolina and will play the Hurricanes on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on FOX Sports Florida and heard live on 99.9 KISS FM. The two clubs will meet in a rematch at the BB&T Center on Sunday. Mar. 3 at 6 p.m.
